Council acquires replacement backhoe

The Council has purchased a JCB backhoe under its plant replacement and renewal program.
The backhoe it replaced was built in 1992 and has been in Council operation for more than 20 years and 12,500 hours of service. The normal life expectancy of a backhoe is 10-12 years.
Mayor, Cr Scott Upston said it was time to replace the backhoe.
“Plant and equipment renewal is an important part of the Council being able to deliver its road maintenance program including cleaning drains and culverts and clearing fallen trees,” said Cr Upston.
