Cr Scott Upston elected Mayor

At a Special Meeting of the Council on 14 November 2018, Cr Scott Upston was elected Mayor of Benalla Rural City Council and Cr Peter Davis was elected Deputy Mayor.
In accordance with the Local Government Act 1989, Cr Upston and Cr Davis have been elected to their positions for a one year term until November 2019.
Cr Upston said he is enthusiastic and humbled to be elected Mayor.
“I am thankful for the support my fellow Councillors have shown in electing me Mayor,” said Cr Upston.
“I look forward to working collaboratively with all of the community including local businesses, individuals, the Federal and State Governments, and our charitable and not-for-profit organisations.
“I would like to thank Cr Firth and Cr Davis for their work as both Mayor and Acting Mayor and look forward to relying on their support and experience during my term as Mayor.”
