Accessible travel around Benalla has been aided by the recent launch of a Benalla City Centre Mobility Map.
The Mobility Map shows the location of community facilities within the central business district, including accessible toilets and parking, baby change tables, scooter recharge points and public seating.
"The Mobility Map is designed for everyone, residents and visitors alike," said Mayor, Cr Don Firth.
"It is an excellent resource for the whole community ensuring travel around our beautiful town is safe, easy and accessible," said Cr Firth.
The Mobility Map was developed by Benalla Rural City Council in partnership with the Disability Advocacy and Information Service (DAIS) and the RACV Good Citizen Program.
The Accessibility Reference Group, which is a community-based reference group, played a key role in the development of the map.
RACV Sales and Service Manager, Maria Rosa, said "The RACV is committed to supporting the local and extended regional community. We are proud to be involved in the development of the Mobility Map through funding from the Good Citizen Program.
"If you are involved in a not-for-profit organisation and have an idea that would benefit your local community, I strongly urge you to put forward a submission for funding from the RACV Good Citizen Program."
The Benalla City Centre Mobility Map is one of the measures outlined in the Council’s Community Access and Inclusion Plan. The Plan is aimed at building an inclusive community and promoting access for people of all abilities.
The Mobility Map is available from the Council’s Customer Service Centre, the Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop Learning Centre and the Visitor Information Centre, and online at www.benalla.vic.gov.au
