Events provide a wide range of social, economic and cultural benefits to the community.
Benalla Rural City has a range of parks and sporting reserves that can be used for events and activities.
To ensure a safe environment for the community, you need to apply to use a public space or venue. Public events held on private land may also need a permit. If you're unsure about the requirements of your event, contact us to book in a time for a discussion about your event.
See a list of Benalla Rural City's venues, facilities, parks and reserves or visit the Event Permits page for planning and application forms.
Make sure you have everything you need before completing your Event Application by viewing the Event Planning Guidelines(PDF, 338KB) for more information and tips for running your event. You can also download examples of a Risk Assessment template(PDF, 70KB) and an Emergency Management Plan template(DOC, 48KB).
Download the event application process flowchart(PDF, 58KB) for help understanding the steps involved in the application process. Funding opportunities
Benalla Rural City can provide event funding opportunities through community and event attraction programs:
To be eligible for the Major Event Funding Program the event should offer the best opportunity to provide measurable economic benefits, have the potential to market Benalla Rural City outside the municipality and enhance local community life through participation by residents. This program opens annually in February.
There are a variety of external funding programs also available, for more information visit the Our Community Matters website.
