Benalla Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre (Benalla Landfill)
Benalla Rural City's new transfer station is now open to the public and with the new facility comes a handful of changes.
Domestic customers no longer uses the same entrance as the commercial and industrial customers.
Instead of using the old entrance, patrons are asked to follow the recently sealed Old Farnley Road to the new Transfer Station.
The upgraded facilities will allow the community to unload waste and recyclables from vehicles in a safer, easier and cleaner way.
Customers will now be charged based on the volume and type of waste they dispose of, encouraging responsible segregation and recycling practices.

The Benalla Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre is on Old Farnley Road.
Opening hours
The Benalla Landfill is open daily 12pm to 3.45pm.
Closed Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day and on Code Red and Total Fire Ban days.
Access to the landfill tipping face is weather dependent. In inclement weather, you may need to unload general waste into skip bins provided.
Please note that Landfill Disposal Vouchers are no longer available.
The BLRRC cannot accept cash payments, EFTPOS facilities are available onsite.

Accepted free of charge
Recyclable plastic, unbroken glass bottles, aluminium containers, cardboard (under 100kg), wire, steel, metal, oil (under 20 litre containers), washing machines, ovens, fridges/freezers (CFC must already be removed), car batteries. Textiles can also be recycled at the Benalla Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre. Please place textiles for recycling in plastic bags to eliminate cross-contamination and follow the below guidelines:
1. Ensure all textiles are dry: Wet or damp items cannot be accepted for recycling.
2. Place textiles in plastic bags: To prevent cross-contamination and keep the items dry, residents should place textiles in plastic bags before disposal. Plastic bags will be recycled by Upcycle4Better.
3. Avoid contaminants: Please ensure all contaminants such as food scraps, medical waste, or general rubbish are not included in the bags being deposited.
4. Call ahead for larger quantities: Residents with more than three garbage bags of textiles to dispose of are kindly asked to call ahead at 03 5760 2600 or email council@benalla.vic.gov.au to make arrangements.
5. Commercial textile waste disposal: It's important to note that commercial textile waste disposal is not available through this program. Businesses are encouraged to contact Upcycle4Better directly to discuss commercial textile recycling solutions.
The Benalla landfill does not accept liquid or chemical waste.

The following materials can be disposed of by approved commercial customers from 9am weekdays:

Please note commercial accounts can only be used on weekdays and must only consist of a single material from the list above.
