The Benalla Art Gallery is one of Australia’s premier regional art galleries renowned for its permanent art collection that spans three centuries of Australian art.
Benalla Cinema
Volunteering at Benalla’s Cinema is a great way to stay connected with film and screen culture, while also meeting like-minded movie enthusiasts.
The TAC L2P Program is a community-based program developed to assist young learner drivers who may have limited access to vehicles and supervising drivers. The program helps learner drivers gain their minimum of 120 hours of driving experience and to become safe and confident drivers.
The heritage-listed Benalla Botanic Gardens and its iconic Rose Garden (first established in 1959), features more than 1,000 rose varieties.
If you’re keen to volunteer but cannot commit to regular activities, become an event volunteer, and help at our annual Benalla Festival in November or other Council-hosted civic and community-run events that need assistance throughout the year.
The Benalla Litter Prevention Program is a group of local volunteers who assist with rubbish collection, helping to keep Benalla beautiful.
Are you aged between 12 and 25 and interested in volunteering with youth programs and events?
Council is committed to ensuring Benalla Rural City is an age-friendly community that supports older people to live safe, purposeful and healthy lives. Council’s Age Friendly Benalla Reference Group meets regularly to implement priorities from the Age Friendly Action Plan 2023-2025.
Members of Benalla’s Accessibility Reference Group is a crucial voice for local access and inclusion priorities. The group meets every second month on a weekday to discuss current issues and progress actions and priorities to improve access and inclusion in the community.

Applying to volunteer is easy.
1. Fill out an application form online.
2. Attend an interview.
3. Complete necessary background checks.
4. Attend an induction and sign the volunteer agreement.
5. Get started!
(All volunteers must have current background checks prior to starting and will undergo volunteer induction, with training and support provided).
Volunteering and Centrelink payments
To be considered for Centrelink approval, volunteers must complete a Verification of Voluntary Work form to meet mutual obligation requirements.
