Access, Equity & Human Rights
Benalla Rural City Council is dedicated to upholding the Charter of Human Rights. We aim to facilitate the conditions and opportunities that enable all people to live free of discrimination and be treated fairly. The Charter of Human Rights details 20 rights that fall within the key themes of freedom, respect, equality and dignity. As a public authority, the Benalla Rural City Council is required to act consistently with the rights that are set out in the Charter.
When laws are made, policies are developed and when services are provided, the Council is obligated to promote and uphold human rights.
