Councillor Expenses
The Local Government Act 2020 requires the Mayor and Councillors to be provided with appropriate tools and support to enable them to carry out their roles.
To assist Councillors to represent their communities and carry out their significant legal responsibilities, they are provided with general support such as meals when they attend meetings at meal times, reimbursement of travel costs and other costs related to undertaking their duties as Councillors.
The publication of Councillor expenses became a requirement in July 2015 under the Local Government (Planning and Reporting) Regulations 2014.
The Councillor Resources and Reimbursement Policy details the level of resources and support Councillors are entitled to.
Council reports expenses and allowances quarterly through its Council meetings and in the Annual Report.
