Annual rates notices on the way
Published on 09 August 2024
Benalla Rural City Council is reminding residents that annual rates notices are in the mail. The Council would like to ask residents who have any questions about their rates notices to review the information on the Council’s website or contact Council’s Customer Relations team who are there to help.
“We understand that rates notices can be confusing, so we ask that ratepayers reach out if they have any questions, as often there is a simple explanation, plus there is a formal objection process that ratepayers can explore if they believe their property’s valuation is incorrect,” Mayor Cr Danny Claridge said.
“Rates are a vital contribution to maintaining and improving the services and infrastructure that make Benalla Rural City a great place to live and we are committed to ensuring that the process is a smooth and transparent one.”
This year, Council will continue to offer the convenience of electronic delivery of rates notices through the Ezybill service, with ratepayers opting to receive their notices via email receiving these notices later this week.
For those who prefer the traditional method, your rates notices will arrive in your mailbox over the coming week, providing you with all the details on how your rates are calculated.
“The independent property valuation system ensures that each property owner contributes their share to the community services and upkeep of important Council assets.” Cr Claridge said.
“We encourage all ratepayers to review their rates notices upon receipt and reach out to us with any questions or concerns. Our friendly staff are here to assist and provide clarity on any aspect of your rates.”
“We also invite you to explore the various payment options available, designed to offer flexibility and convenience,” Cr Claridge said.
