Changes coming to Benalla recycling services
Published on 26 July 2024
Changes are coming to waste and recycling services across Benalla. Aimed at boosting resource recovery, Benalla Rural City Council will soon align with the Victorian Government’s 2030 mandate for a four-stream waste and recycling system.
Mayor Cr Danny Claridge said, “Our commitment is to increase recycling and this initiative marks a significant stride towards a sustainable future for our community.”
As part of the review, Council is considering kerbside glass collection and drop-off points to cater to the varied needs of urban and rural residents. These changes, to be introduced in July 2025, will rely on community feedback to determine the most effective collection methods.
Mayor Claridge added, “Your feedback is vital as we aim to create a waste and recycling system that benefits everyone in our community.”
Residents are invited to join the consultation process, closing on Monday, 16 September 2024. Residents are being asked to take part in an online survey. For those who don’t have internet access, phone Council’s Customer Service team on 03 5762 2600 to access a paper survey.
Mayor Claridge stressed the importance of community participation, stating, “Your involvement is key to the success of this new system. Together, we can significantly reduce waste and enhance recycling in Benalla.”
