Benalla Rural City Council is inviting community feedback on two proposals to lease sections of land, each set to enhance local infrastructure and community services.

The first proposal concerns a section of land at Benalla Airport, 35 Samaria Road, Benalla. An interested party has requested to lease land from Council to construct a new hangar, aiming to improve the airport's facilities in line with the Benalla Airport Masterplan 2015.

The proposed lease term is for five years, commencing on 1 January 2025, with the option of four further terms of five years each. This new hangar will be designed to match the alignment, style, and colour of the existing hangars, ensuring a cohesive look for the airport.

The second proposal involves a section of land at 93-101 Waller Street, Benalla, where the Benalla Woodworkers Association has proposed to construct a fenced compound for housing woodworking equipment. This facility will also include a shed with a kitchenette and bathroom facilities.

The lease is proposed for a term of five years, starting as soon as the lease is approved by Benalla Rural City Council, followed by four option terms of five years each, totalling a potential 25-year lease.

Benalla Rural City Council is seeking feedback from the community regarding these proposals. Residents are invited to join the consultation process, closing Monday 26 August 2024.

Residents are being asked to provide feedback. Visit haveyoursay.benalla.vic.gov.au for more information.
