Cr Don Firth returned as Mayor

Cr Don Firth has been re-elected Mayor for a second year, with Cr Scott Upston being elected Deputy Mayor.
The appointments were made at a Special Meeting of the Council on Wednesday 15 November 2017 and are each for a one year term.
Cr Don Firth was first elected Mayor after the general election of the Council in October 2016.
“I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for the confidence and trust they have shown in me by electing me as Mayor for a further one year,” said Mayor, Cr Don Firth.
“Benalla Rural City offers a wonderful way of life, with fantastic facilities and opportunities.
“As a Council we will continue to work hard to ensure our operations and transactions are transparent and rigorous and that the benefit of the good work of the Council reaches all our residents and visitors.”
This is the first time Benalla Rural City has had a Deputy Mayor and Cr Scott Upston is humbled by his appointment.
“I am excited, honoured and humbled by this appointment and by the confidence my fellow Councillors have shown in me,” Cr Upston said.
“I congratulate the Mayor on his appointment and look forward to continuing the important work of the Council.”
