Warm weather draws big crowd for Festival Finale

After weeks of wet weather and a number of postponed or cancelled events, Benalla Festival organisers were delighted with good attendance for the final weekend of the festival.
Benalla Festival Advisory Committee Chair Cr Don Firth said the warm spring weather reflected the happy and exuberant mood of festivalgoers.
“After all the recent rain, the sun shone for the last weekend of the Benalla Festival and people were appreciative and enjoyed the fact the major Benalla events still went ahead after the constant wet weather we’ve had and the two-year break due to Covid,” Cr Firth said.
Key festival events that attracted strong crowds included the Village Precinct at the Mural, Celebration in the Street featuring live music, street food vendors, fireworks display and Sunday’s A Day in Denny Street Market.
Cr Firth acknowledged all the community event organisers who managed to proceed with their events and also to those who will be reorganising postponed dates early in the new year.
“I also want to thank the festival’s major sponsors, Benalla Rural City Council, Australian Government Regional Arts Fund, the Victorian Government, Benalla Bus Lines, Emblem Benalla and Winton Motor Raceway,” Cr Firth said.
