Pathways to the Future (Foot & Cycle Paths)
The 'Pathways to the Future' Project investigated Benalla's current foot and cycle path infrastructure and assessed the community's needs into the future. The Project enabled us to develop a set of priorities to improve connectivity of the network and the safety of the community.
The report details the results of this investigation, including an assessment of the demands for competing road space and various road transport options. The Project now acts as a strategy for how we use and plan our resources from now and into the future.
We engaged the services of road safety and traffic engineering specialists to develop this strategic document. Consultation throughout the project enabled us to assess the community's expectations and priorities. In addition to a public questionnaire and consultation period following the release of the draft report, a Pathways to the Future Steering Committee operated to guide the process from the beginning.
The report enables us to prioritise how we fund projects and creates opportunities for grant funding in coming years.
